Geraldine H. Phelps

ASHBURNHAM - Geraldine H. (Putnam) Phelps, 81 of 12 Cobb Road, Ashburnham, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Townsend, MA, on January 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Gerald and the late Bertha (Maxwell) Putnam. Geraldine grew up in New Ipswich, NH and graduated from Appleton Academy, New Ipswich. She married Robert N. Phelps on August 2, 1947 and they moved to Ashburnham where they have resided since. She was a member of the Ashburnham Community Church, a member of the Ashburnham Council for Aging where she was past Director. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking. She leaves her husband of 62 years, Robert N. Phelps; two sons, Randall S. Phelps and his wife Audrey of Ashburnham, Russell W. Phelps of Hawaii; two sisters, Mabel Card of Center Barnstead, NH, Marilyn Mitchell of Hillsboro, NH; two brothers, Wallace Putnam of Lecanto, FL, Richard Putnam of Lecanto, FL; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Robert M. Phelps. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11:00 am in the New Cemetery, Nims Road, Ashburnham. There are no calling hours.
