LEOMINSTER - Gerard J. Doucette, 82 of 100 Cottage St., Leominster, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner after an illness.
He was born August 9, 1925, in Rogersville New Brunswick Canada, the son of the late Joseph and the late Edesse (Hachey) Doucette. And lived in Rogersville New Brunswick Canada until moving to Leominster, MA in 1962.
He leaves his wife of 64 years Rosalie M. (Martin) Doucette, five sons: Gerald Doucette and wife Annette of Lunenburg, Richard Doucette of Westminster, Donald Doucette of Leominster, Daniel Doucette and wife Laura Wood of Britt Iowa, Robert Doucette and wife Renay of Leominster, four daughters: Eva Caissie and husband Leo of Leominster, Alma Richard of St. John New Brunswick Canada, Alice Bourque and husband Denis of Pennsylvania and Irene Doucette of Leominster, seventeen Grandchildren, fifteen Great Grandchildren, two brothers: Medric Doucette and wife Cecile of Fitchburg, Eugene Doucette and wife Elena of New Brunswick, Canada, four sisters: Alma Pitre and husband Felix of Leominster, Elda Doucette and husband Rheal of Rogersville New Brunswick Canada, Emilia Martin and Anita Martin both of Moncton New Brunswick Canada.
Two daughters Annette Doucette and Stella (Doucette) Robichaud and a brother Eloie Doucette and three sisters Regina (Doucette) Landry, Roselda Doucette and Antoine Doucette predeceased him.
Mr. Doucette worked at HAARTS Corp. in Leominster for twenty years before retiring in 1987. Previously he was employed at Independent Lock Co. for many years. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Leominster.
Mr. Doucette and his wife Rosalie loved traveling, spending the winter months in Florida and summers in Canada. He also enjoyed working outdoors in the woods.
The funeral will be held at Friday, May 30, 2008 from the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St, Leominster with an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the St. Cecilia's Church Restoration Fund, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster, MA. 01453 and may be left at the funeral home.
