LEOMINSTER- Gerard Joseph Poirier, 92, of Leominster, joined his beloved wife in heaven on Saturday, December 23, 2017. He died peacefully from a broken heart at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester.
Gerard is survived by his daughter, Nancy Girouard and her husband, Yvon of Leominster; sons, Jean-Paul Poirier of Monroe, NC, and Normand Poirier of St. Antoine, New Brunswick, and Joseph Poirier and his wife, Linda of Fredericton, New Brunswick; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; and brother Leandre Poirier of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.
He was predeceased by a son, Zoe; brother, Desire Poirier, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Gerard was born on December 31, 1924 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, to Emile and Marie Agnus LeBlanc. He married Rosee LeBlanc on October 11, 1948. They spent their early years in St. Anselm, New Brunswick prior to moving to Leominster. He was employed by Tucker Housewares in Leominster prior to his retirement. He lived spending time with his grandchildren and summer vacations spent by the ocean in Bouctouche, New Brunswick with friends and family. Gerry and his wife, Rosee were members of St. Cecilia’s Parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gerry and Rosee, Friday, May 25, 2018, at 11:00am. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery.
