ATHOL – Gertrude A. Dumas, 96, of Athol passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Quabbin Valley Health Care, Athol.
Gertrude was born on April 29, 1921 in Athol to the late Wilfred Duval and the late Alice (Brooks) Duval. She was raised in Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1939.
She worked in the Athol School system in the cafeteria, working mainly in Pleasant St. School. She loved animals. She traveled with her husband and also belonged to the Skidoo club. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children: Kent Dumas and his wife Joanne of FL, Nadine Mosquera of Athol, Scott Dumas of Athol; nine grandchildren: Tammy Hunter Marshall, Randy Hunter, Mark Mosquera, Kelly Woods, Kristen Hayes, Kurt Dumas, Jessica Dumas Chizmar, Devone Fox and Cassandra Salimen; six great grandchildren: Kayla Woods, Colin Hayes, Andrew Marshall, Camden Marshall, Tatum Fox, and Javin Fox; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ray Dumas; her brother Wilfred Duval Jr.; her sister Blanche Mallet.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Higgins O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol.
A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 pm. in the funeral home.
