Leominster- Gertrude C. (Coulombre) Leger, 95 of Leominster, died Wednesday July 20, in the Golden Living Center.
She was born August 11, 1920, in Fitchburg, daughter of the late Arthur and Albertine (Richard) Coulombre. She graduated from Saint Bernard’s High School in 1938 and Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. Mrs. Leger
Worked in the office of Fitchburg Yarn Company and Paul J. Woodcome Insurance Company in Fitchburg and Leominster, retiring in 1981. She lived in Lunenburg for 57 years, moving to Leominster in 2008.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Fitchburg until it closed and was very active in many Church affairs.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends visiting many islands.
She leaves her husband of 72 years, Henry E. Leger; her son, Dr. Bruce R. Leger, and his wife Sharon of Ashburnham; one granddaughter, Kimberly Leger Smelstor and her husband Jeremy of Bellingham; three great grandchildren, Olivia, Ava, and Jack Smelstor; one nephew Michael Coulombre of Brooklyn, NY; two nieces, Ann Stirniolo of Framingham and Judy Mahoney of Roslindale.
She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Coulombre, and his wife Marie (King).
The funeral Mass will be held Monday August 1, at 11:00 AM in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St. Leominster. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Winchendon.
Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. in Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster prior to the funeral.
