Gertrude N. (Pervier) Gushen

ATHOL - Gertrude N. (Trudy) Gushen, 100 of 19 Ella St., Athol, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 in the Athol Hospital, Athol. She was born in Boston, MA, on May 19, 1913, the daughter of the late Sarah M. Pervier. She was raised in Shelbourne Falls and attended schools there.  She has lived in Athol for 82 years. She worked at Parady’s Cleaners for 38 years, retiring in 1967.  She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol and a member of the Athol Golden Age Club.  She enjoyed knitting/crocheting and played the piano.  She loved going for long drives. She leaves two step-daughters:  Margaret Dugas of Athol, Marion Laing of Fullerton,CA. She was predeceased by her first husband, Maurice Manning, by her second husband, Stanley Gushen and by two step-daughters, Joyce O’Lari and Doreen MacEwen. Graveside services in Gethsemane Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
