ATHOL- Rev. Glenn Leslie Allen, 78, of Athol, died Saturday, September 12, 2015. He was born January 13, 1937, in Waterbury, CT, son of the late Arthur and Marguerite (Johnston) Allen. He grew up in Thomaston, CT and was a 1955 graduate of Thomaston High. He attended New Britain Teachers College and graduated from the University of Hartford in 1960 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He lived in Connecticut until moving to Athol in 1993. Glenn worked for L. S. Starrett Company from 1993-2006 as manager of screw thread gauging. He had previously started Allen Engineering & Development Company and developed the Allen Thread Gage System. Prior to that, he owned Allen Gage and was employed as senior engineer for Johnson Gage Company in Connecticut from 1959-1989. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the B1 Federal Screw Thread Committee from 1994-2006. Glenn was a Minister through the Universal Brotherhood Movement, Inc. (an interfaith ministry). He was a member of the Athol Congregational Church, UCC since 1993. In Connecticut he was a 50-year member of St. Paul's Lodge of Masons A.F. & A.M. #11, Litchfield; Sphinx Temple Shriners, Newington; A.A.S.R. Valley of Waterbury and Lafayette Consistory of Bridgeport; Cyrus-Meridian #15 R.A.M of Torrington; and Frederica Chapter #110, Order of the Eastern Star, Plainville. As owner and operator of Allen Associates, a sound recording business, he recorded and produced many record albums for schools, churches and theatres throughout Connecticut. He leaves his wife of 32 years, Rev. Dr. Jane E. (Slaby) (Tomasello) Allen; a daughter, Julie Mattoon (Allen) Kozikowski and her husband Charles of Plymouth, CT, two grandsons, Bradley Charles & Gary Lewis Kozikowski of Plymouth, CT and a step-daughter Sarah Ruth Tomasello, Pharm.D., BCPS and her spouse Rebecca Reynolds of Highland Park, NJ. A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 AM in the Memory Garden of the Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol, MA. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 AM at Quabbin Valley Healthcare, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Athol Congregational Church, Capitol Campaign for the new sound system, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol, MA 01331 or to the First Congregational Church of Plymouth, Organ Fund, 10 Park St., Plymouth, CT 06782 Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, is assisting the family with arrangements.
