Glenn D. Bates

ATHOL - Glenn D. Bates, 55, of 15 Gibson Drive, Athol, died on Saturday, December 25, 2010 at his home. He was born in Montague on October 28, 1955, and was a lifelong resident of Athol. He attended Athol High School and studied auto repair at Springfield College. Several years ago, he worked in the delivery department of Hapco. Glenn enjoyed being outdoors and had a great appreciation for nature. He enjoyed annual trips to Hampton Beach and visiting the Tully Dam. As one of Elvis' biggest fans, Glenn enjoyed collecting memorabilia of the King of Rock & Roll throughout his life. Glenn was a kind man and a very caring father. He will be greatly missed. He leaves his two daughters, Sarah Bates of Agawam, April Custeau of Athol; his mother, Donna Rotepel of Jersey City, NJ; two grandchildren, Kayla Gauthier and Cameron Gauthier of Agawam; one sister, Jennifer Fiumefreddo of Jersey City, NJ; four brothers, Carl Robichaud of Athol, Thomas Mell of Orange, Joseph Rotepel of Florida, Butchie Rotepel of Florida; one nephew, Chris Robichaud of Athol, and one niece, Marissa Bates of Athol. He was predeceased by his brother, Victor Bates; by his uncle, Robert Bates; and by his grandparents, C. Howard Bates and Geraldine Fuller. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main Street, Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. $(document).ready(function(){ });
