ATHOL - Gloria Shackett, 81, of Cottage Street in Athol passed away Sunday December 9th
She had a long battle with Parkinson’s and related issues.
Gloria was a graduate of Athol High School Class of 1955 and a lifelong resident of the town.
Gloria worked for several years as a baker at Hamilton Orchards and also worked in the Junior High cafeteria.
For 4 years she helped coordinate the Athol Congregational Church Ham and Baked Bean Suppers. Her pies & coleslaw are still remembered!
Gloria was a very imaginative and creative woman. She was an avid gardener known by the neighbors for her perennial flowerbeds. She loved baking, crafts, and ceramics. She also loved animals, especially her birds and cats. She will be missed.
Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Shackett, Gloria is survived by her son Keith Shackett and his partner Troy, her son Kyle Shackett and his wife Pernille, and her grandchildren Miranda Holberg and Fenris Shackett.
Her sisters Shirley Jacquez (Laurel MD) and Sheila Smith and her husband Steve Smith of Athol.
Her niece, Carol (Atlanta GA) and nephew, Allen (Ellicott City MD)
There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday December 18th 3:30 pm at the Athol Congregation Church followed by food and refreshments.
