STUART, FLORIDA- Goldie (Carpenter) Rice, 91 of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Athol and Warwick, RI, died March 28, 2002 in Martin Memorial Hospital, Stuart, Florida. She was born in Enfield, MA, June 21, 1910, daughter of Harry and Salena (Hall) Carpenter, and was raised in Greenwich, MA. She graduated from Belchertown High School in 1930. She and her husband, Frederick Rice, who died in 1951, had resided on Pleasant Street in Athol, MA. She then lived many years in Warwick, Rhode Island, where she was a key punch operator at Narragansett Electric Company.
Survivors include her son Alvin S. Rice and his wife Pat of Blairsville, Georgia; a grandson David Rice and his wife Pattie of Tolland, CT; 2 granddaughters, Nancy Temerian and her husband John of North Palm Beach, Florida, and Laura Brooker and her husband Douglas of Jupiter, Florida; and 3 great-grandchildren; and relatives in the Athol area.
Funeral services were conducted April 5 at Wallace & White Funeral Home in Stuart, Florida. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 15, 2002 at 2 p.m. in Doe Valley Cemetery, Athol, with Rev. Harold Lloyd, pastor of Athol Congregational Church officiating.
