ORANGE - Gordon E. Haskins, Sr., 81 of 33 Rosemont Avenue, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
He was born in Athol on August 24, 1924, the son of the late Clayton and the late Ruth (Partridge) Haskins.
He was a Machine Operator, employed by L.S.Starrett for fifty-seven years and was a member of the 25 Year Club.
Gordon was an avid fisherman, enjoyed bowling in the Starrett League, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a former member of the Athol Grange.
He leaves his wife of sixty-eight years, Mary (Kasuba) Haskins, one daughter; Rose Marie Haskins of Enosburg Falls, VT, one son; Gordon E. Haskins, Jr. of Fitzwilliam, NH, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Irene Cameron, Phyllis Stevens and Winifred Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2006 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472
