Gordon H. Springer

ATHOL - Gordon H. Springer, 74 of 119 Townsend Road, Athol, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 in the St. Vincent´s Hospital, Worcester, MA. He was born in Gardner, MA, on May 14, 1932, the son of the late Gerrish J. and the late Jeanette M. (Harmon) Springer. He graduated from Athol High School in 1950. Mr. Springer was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. After his time in the service he moved to Ohio and lived there until 1996. He was employed at Bendax Brake Corporation and also worked as a plant manager for the Hamilton Tool Company in Ohio from 1960 to 1991. He retired from Arnold Gage in 1996. He was a member of the Athol American Legion Post #102. He was predeceased by his first wife of 40 years, Betty (Byrge) Springer and by four sisters, Arline Hilding, Doreen Keeth, Priscilla Albright and Shirley Wright and by one brother Bruce Springer. He leaves his wife of eleven years, Betty Ann (Brion) (Barrett) Springer; two sons, Robert Springer and his wife Janet and their children Megan, Holly and Jason of Hebron, OH; Philip Springer and his wife Tracy and their children Andrew and Rachel of West Chester, OH; two sisters, Patricia Hannula of East Templeton, MA, Sandra Mager of Niantic, CT; one brother, Brian Springer of Groton, CT and step son, Brion Barrett and his wife Angela of Athol; two step daughters, Debra Ellis and her husband Tom of Athol and Cynthia Barrett of Athol; two step grandchildren, Nicole Stone and Benjamin Ellis and one step great granddaughter, Emma Stone. Funeral services will be held at Monday, April 2, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Massachusetts Veterans´ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glendale St., Winchendon, MA. There are no calling hours.
