ATHOL-Gray Ellen (Jardine) Morris, 95, of 245 Brooks Road, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following an illness. Her husband of 50 years, Anthony H. Morris, died in 1982. She leaves a son, Robert G. Morris, with whom she lived; two grandsons, Sgt. Paul A. Morris and his wife, Novi, with the U. S. Air Force at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, and Gary R. Morris of Athol; and a sister, Vimy MacGinnis of St. Andrews, New Brunswick. She is predeceased by five sisters: Beatrice Dealy, Janet Bremner, Hannah MacKnight, Stella Dickson, and Hilda Jardine, and three brothers, Guy Jardine, William Jardine, and Chesley Jardine. She was born in Loggieville, New Brunswick, Canada, Nov. 27, 1906, daughter of George and Nellie (Loggie) Jardine, and attended schools there. At age 12, her mother passed away, and for the rest of her childhood, she was raised by Robert and Alberta Bremner. She has been in Athol the past 75 years. Mrs. Morris was employed at the L. S. Starrett Company for 35 years, retiring in 1966. She was a member of Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, handcrafts and reading. The graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Silver Lake Cemetery, with Rev. Dr. R. Lee Smith, pastor of Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. A calling hour in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home will be Friday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. $(document).ready(function(){ });
