Guy John L'Heureux

ORANGE - Guy John L'Heureux, 75, of Orange, died on Monday, March 7, 2011 at his home after an illness. Mr. L'Heureux was born in Berlin, NH, on July 16, 1935, the son of the late John L. and the late Josephine (Michaud) L'Heureux. He has resided in the Athol-Orange area for most of his life and served during the Korean War in the United States Army from 1954 to 1962. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Mr. L'Heureux worked for the Athol and Amherst Post Offices for thirty-five years until his retirement in 1990. He was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church and a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Athol. He was also a member of the Athol VFW Post 650, the American Legion Post 172 in Orange and a former member of STEBS. Guy was a manager for OK Travel Club for several years and enjoyed cooking, traveling, cribbage, casinos and bingo. He leaves four sons, Daniel J. L'Heureux and his wife Joyce, David L. L'Heureux and his wife Jessie, all of Athol, John G. L'Heureux and his wife Gaye of Lincolnshire, IL, Edward J. L'Heureux and his wife Vicki of New Salem; two daughters, Theresa Webster of Athol, Paula M. Richard and her husband David of Chandler, AZ; his loving companion of ten years, Annette Barrows of Orange; two brothers, Noel L'Heureux of Somerset, Luc L'Heureux of Berlin, NH; two sisters, Ida Hayden and Ina Maga both of Athol; eight grandchildren, Jacklyn Graziano and her husband Alexander of Orange, Dustin L'Heureux, Emily Webster, Evan Webster, all of Athol, Steve Kolasinski of Charlotte, NC; Gregory Richard of Leominster, Christina Richard of Chandler, AZ, Connor L'Heureux of Lincolnshire, IL; two great grandchildren, Zachary Graziano and Kameron Elliotte; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Sara E. (Lachance) L'Heureux, on October 7, 2000; and by three brothers, Leo L'Heureux, Eri L'Heureux and Asa L'Heureux. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Athol. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331 or Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440. $(document).ready(function(){ });
