H. Edward Burnham, age 85, of Athol, died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at home in Athol. Eddie was born October 19, 1928 in Baltimore, MD. He is the son of the late Raymond and the late Ruth (Schisler) Burnham.
He graduated from Catonsville High School.
Eddie’s employment began early as he grew up in involved in the family plastering business, Raymond F. Burnham & Son in Maryland. Later he owned the package store, Glen Bernie Liquors, in Maryland. He moved to Athol in 1970 and worked as a Plasterer of the Boston Local Union for L.S. Starrett Company for 10 years. After retiring from Starrett, he worked for several plastering companies including Todd Rivers.
He was a very hard worker. He enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, and golf.
His wife of 48 years, Joyce (Abare) Burnham, died in 1995.
He is survived by one daughter: Julie Rathburn and her husband, David; one son, Raymond E. Burnham and his wife, Diane; his companion of 17 years, Jean Spaulding; one sister,Ruth Sherman of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren, Ross Burnham, Jordan Burnham, Alexa Burnham, Meagan MacEwen, David Rathburn, Jennifer Rathburn Susan and her husband, Matthew; twelve great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mason, Wesley, Jackson, and Isla Burnham, Kyla, Jacob, Lilly Rathburn, Ryland, Matthew, Kaitlyn, and Steven Susan; many nieces and nephews including Linda Lozier and her husband, Jerry of Athol, and Jean Dell’uomo and her husband, Mark of PA.
The funeral will be held 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 12 at Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange, MA with Father Edwin Montana officiating. The burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
