Baldwinville- Hannah H. Given, 92, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in the Baldwinville Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Antonia (Bogdanski) Yackowski. Mrs. Given was born in Otter River, MA, on March 16, 1920, and resided in the Otter River area of Templeton until her passing.
Hannah was a housekeeper, a nanny, and worked for several local businesses including the former Temple Stuart Furniture Factory where she was employed for approximately 20 years until her retirement. After her retirement, Hannah enjoyed spending her winters in Winter Haven, FL. She enjoyed playing cards, shuffleboard, watching television game shows, and square dancing with her late husband, Aylmer.
Mrs. Given leaves behind one brother, Chester Yackowski of Baldwinvile, her step-daughter, Winifred Smialek of Gardner, step-daughter-in-law, Mary Given of Jaffrey, N.H., many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Aylmer Given, one brother, Alexander Yackowski, two sisters, Jane Lis and Stella Prevost, and one step-son, Aylmer Given, Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 10:00am-11:00 am at the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant Street, Gardner, MA.
A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am in St. Martin’s Church, 248 State Road, Otter River, MA. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hannah’s name to St. Martin’s Church, 248 State Road, Otter River, MA 01436 or Baldwinville Nursing Home Activity Fund, 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436 or may be left at the funeral home.
