ATHOL – Harold C. Spencer, 94, of Athol passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
He was born on June 14, 1924 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Arthur and Sadie (Englehardt) Spencer. He grew up in Worcester and graduated from St. John’s High School. He later lived in Clinton, Hudson, Hopkinton, as well as Holliston and resided in Athol since 2004. He served as a Seaman, First Class, in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Harold worked as an assembler for the General Motors Corporation in Framingham for more than twenty years and had also worked for a wire company in Clinton.
While living in Hopkinton he was a member of the Lion’s Club, he also enjoyed watching all sports and loved woodworking.
Harold leaves his wife Betty A. (Reed) Spencer, six children; Leslie Lovick of Maryland, Scott Spencer and his wife Sharon of Mashpee, Todd Spencer and his wife Arlene of Virginia, Tracey Spencer of Worcester, Jill Spencer of North Falmouth and Brett Spencer of Vero Beach, Florida, three grandchildren; Chad Galvin and his wife Rebecca of Ohio, Grant Galvin and his wife Shannon of Colorado, and Matthew Spencer of Virginia, as well as four great-grandchildren.
A Calling Hour will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 from 11am – 12pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00pm in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Cemetery in Winchendon.
