GREENFIELD - Harold (Woody) W. Wood, 90, of Athol, MA died Wed., July 10, 2013 in Greenfield, MA. Woody was married to Anna Karluk (dec. 2003) in 1943. After serving in U.S. Army (1943-46) in Europe in WWII he worked in automobile sales in MA and CT; and at the Red Apple Farm in Phillipston. He is best remembered for his delicious, flaky-crust apple pies.
He was born to the late Burt and Mabel Wood, April 15, 1923, in Phillipston. He is survived by four children: Karlene of Milford, CT; Harold, Jr. (Susan) of Salisbury, CT; Susan (Bill Rose) of Fitzwilliam, NH; and Diane of Richmond, NH; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his best friend and partner, Barbara Phelps and family; the Manty family and predeceased by his beloved cat, Lucky.
Burial and military service will be held Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11 AM in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, (Rte. 202), Winchendon, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Winchendon Wreath Fund, VFW Post 794, P.O. Box 2342, Fitchburg, MA 01240.
