ATHOL- Harrison W. Griffith, Jr., age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2016. Harrison was born June 22, 1924 in Athol, MA. He is the son of the late Harrison W. and the late Inez (Wilder) Griffith. He married Marion Sears on July 12, 1942 and they were married for 68 years until she passed away November 26, 2010. Grew up in Athol and has lived in Athol all of his life attending Athol High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 3/11/1943 to 12/7/1945. He was employed by L.S.Starrett Company as a Millwright for over 30 years until his retirement. He was also a stone and brick mason and a carpenter. Following his retirement he worked for his son Gary at Griff's Rubbish Removal. Harrison was a member of Four Square Church, loved to fish and hunt, was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing card games such as canasta, cribbage, phase 10 and many others. He also loved animals but most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and family. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Marion, brother Perry Griffith, sister India Smith and special niece Ruth Ann (Smith) LoCoco. He is survived by one daughter: Cathy Muzzy and her husband Bob of Athol, two sons: Phillip Griffith and his wife Mary of Orange, Gary Griffith and his wife Katherine of Athol; He also has five grandchildren, Daniel Muzzy and his wife Jill, Wendy Muzzy and her husband Michael Del Sarto, Abigail Griffith and her husband Chad Softic, Angela Paul and her husband Joe and Timothy Griffith and his wife Amber; eight great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are private under the direction of Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Harrison’s name to Dana Unit, Quabbin Valley Healthcare, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331
