ATHOL - Hedwidge M. “Hedy” (Mallet) Brault, 91, formerly of 326 Drury Ave., died on Sunday, August 12, 2012 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
She was born in Athol April 3, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph Edmond and late Helen P. (Hebert) Mallet.
Hedy was the beloved wife of the late Jean P. Brault. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage.
Hedy was a lifelong resident of Athol and attended local schools. Many years ago, she worked for the former Athol Comb Shop and the former McElwain Shoe Company in Athol. Hedy was a homemaker for most of her life to raise her children. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and a loyal communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hedy enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo with Gloria, baking and cooking. She was best known for her homemade fudge and zucchini bread.
Her gentle, loving ways and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed.
She leaves two sons, Denis J. Brault and his wife Denise of Poinciana, FL, Mark R. Brault and his wife Jill of Sandwich, three daughters, Theresa DeLoffi and her husband Peter of Poinciana, FL, Irene A. Drozdowski and her husband John, Janet Mousseau and her husband Kenneth both of Athol.
Twelve grandchildren, Diane Snyder and her husband Tom; Darryl Brault and his wife Silome; Taunya Poser and her husband William; Jarret Mousseau and his wife Cheryl; Melissa Holden and her husband Richard; Matthew DeLoffi; Danielle and Jennifer Brault; Nicole Allen and her husband Michael; Christopher Brault and his wife Kandi; Briana Newton; Andrew Newton and his fiancé Ellie Bronnes.
Twelve great-grandchildren, Adrianna Brault, Ashley, Alexis & Matthew Snyder, Skylar and Kellen Brault, Hunter and William Storm Poser, Trever and Kayden Mousseau, Skylar and Michael Allen Jr., a sister, Viginia Gleba of Greenfield, a brother Donald Mallet and his wife Lorraine of Orange, a sister in law Lucy Mallet of Bedford, NH, a brother in law, Louis Brault and his wife Adrienne of Athol and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
Hedy was predeceased by her Husband Jean and her 5 month old, great-grandson Colburn (Colby), who both died December 2011, and her brother Leo Mallet of Bedford, NH, who died in 2010.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m in Our Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange.
Hedy had a great concern for those who hunger. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady Immaculate Church in Hedy’s memory with a memo, “For sharing our Father’s bread.”
