GARDNER – Helen (Puustinen) Heglin, 88, of Gardner died Monday, July 21, 2014 in the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in Gardner on February 4, 1926 the daughter of William and Ines (Salminen) Puustinen.  She grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1944. Helen worked for the Gardner Trust, Florence Stove, Kelly Brothers and retired from Chair City Oil where she was a bookkeeper for many years but most importantly was a mother and grandmother. She leaves her husband of 67 years, Leo Heglin; four children, Danny L. Heglin of Gardner, Thomas A. Heglin of Gardner, Karen I. Greenwood of Winchendon, Randall W. Heglin of Gardner; two sisters, Martha Wood of Gardner, Dorothy Lariviere of Woodbridge, VA; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven siblings, William Puustinen, Ellen Sugarman, Eva Lang,  Vieno Freeman, Ina Puustinen, Inez LaFortune,and Robert Puustinen. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St., Gardner.  Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 10 – 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
