ATHOL - Helen A. (Ambrose) Mazialnik, 77, of 8 Lombard Ave., Athol, died Friday, August 15, 2008 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare of Athol.
She was born in Athol on December 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Frank and Adella (Bolandz) Ambrozy.
Mrs. Mazialnik was a life-long resident of Athol. She attended local schools and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1948. She held part-time positions at the former W.T. Grant Company, L.S. Starrett Company, and the Athol Daily News. She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, and was married there to the late Ladzy Mazialnik in November 1954. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at the Athol Senior Center, and taking care of her neighbors.
She leaves four sons, William Mazialnik and Robert Mazialnik, both of Athol, Michael Mazialnik and his wife Donna of Lunenburg, John Mazialnik of Englewood, CO; one daughter, Karen Bachelder and her husband Peter of Littleton, CO; three grandchildren, Charlie Bachelder of Littleton, CO, Eric Mazialnik and Adam Mazialnik, both of Lunenburg; also many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of over 35 years, Ladzy Mazialnik, who died in December 1989; by two brothers, Stanley Ambrose and William Ambrose, who was killed in action during WWII, and by her sister, Tena Dedinas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18 in the St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol.
Calling hours will be held Monday, August 18, 2008 from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Activity Fund at Quabbin Valley Healthcare, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
