GARDNER - Helen P. (Winters) Morgan, 80 of 152 Oak St., Gardner, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home. She was born in Gardner, on November 20, 1927, the daughter of the late William A. and the late Marie H. (Casey) Winters. She was a lifelong resident of Gardner and a graduate of Gardner High School with the class of 1945. She received the D.A.R. award while attending Gardner High School. She attended McMurray College for Women in Jacksonville, Illinois for two years. She then attended Bay Path Secretarial School where she accomplished a two-year program in one year and graduated in 1949. During her high school years she was employed at the former Leslie's Card and Photo Shop in Gardner. Upon graduating she worked for the former Hoban and Moore Attorneys at Law and the former AT&T, she also worked at the former Eastwood Pines Nursing Home. She was the former president of the Mothers Guild and former president of the Gardner Women's Club. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Baldwinville Nursing Home. Helen was a good friend, a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to all. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her grandchildren, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, trips to foxwoods with her husband, bridge, bingo, family reunions and making puzzles. Her husband of 52 years, Robert B. "Mike" Morgan died November 4, 2003. She is survived by four sons, Michael P. Morgan of Westminster, Earle J. Morgan of Phillipston, William J. Morgan and his wife Bettie of Gardner, and Robert E. Morgan of Gardner; by two daugthers, Kathleen A. Graves and Jane M. Morgan both of Gardner; eight grandchildren, Carlee Mills and her husband Courtney of Westminster, Curt Morgan of Westminster, Mindy Spare and her husband Steven of Spencer, Megan Graves of Gardner, Brooke Coulombe-Morgan of Gardner, Tara Morgan of Gardner, Kate Morgan and Korey Morgan of Gardner; and by four great grandchildren, Keith Vanier of Winchendon, Macus Mills, Madison Mills and Braylon Mills all of Westminster. She was predeceased by one brother, William Winters of Gardner, and by two sisters, Mary Ropulewis of Chatham and Louise Baker of Sedona, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 8, 2008 at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 7, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the John H. Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon St., Gardner. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Baldwinville Nursing Home Patients Activities Fund 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436 or to the Heywood Memorial Library 55 West Lynde St., Gardner, MA 01440.
