Helen C. Nutting

October 26, 1917 — December 28, 2007

Hubbardston-Helen C. (Churchill) Nutting, 90 of 169 Williamsville Road, died on Friday, December 28, 2007 in the Buckley Nursing Home in Greenfield following an illness. She was born in Franklin, NH on October 26, 1917 the daughter of Edwin and Ida (Guerin) Churchill. She resided in Amherst for thirty six years before moving to Hubbardston. She was a 1935 graduate of Northborough High School and a graduate of the Framingham State Teachers School now known as Framingham State College. Mrs. Nutting first taught school in Presque Isle, Maine. She then held a position at the Amherst Regional High School as Instructional Aide in the Junior High School library for sixteen years. Mrs. Nutting was a member of the Hubbardston Golden Agers, the Hampshire County Bird Club in Amherst, and was a member of the Congregational Church in North Amherst. Mrs. Nutting had a great interest in medieval history and natural sciences. She was an avid birder, gardener and enjoyed long walks and knitting. She leaves three daughters, Grace Nutting of Cody, Wyoming, Jaye Thurlow of Hubbardston, and Anna Foster of Leverett; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nutting was predeceased by a son, John C. Nutting who died in 1980. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon Street, Gardner. There are no calling hours. Private burial will take place in Howard St. Cemetery in Northborough.
