ATHOL - Helen M. (Zielenski) Wesockes known by family and friends as Mimi, 92, formerly of Athol, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in the Baldwinville Rehabilitation Center. She went to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of family.
She was born in West Springfield, MA, on August 25, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dziadzio) Zielenski.
Helen was employed at Western Union for over 27 years and then worked at the L.S. Starrett Company for many years, where she retired.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and sang in the Church choir. She loved spending time with her family sharing her love, laughter and encouragement. She enjoyed trips to the casino, picnics in the car, watching movies, bird watching, gardening and cooking.
She leaves her beloved family, George A. Wesockes III and his wife Bonnie of Baldwinville with whom she resided; a daughter in-law, Lynn Wesockes of Athol; four grandchildren, Timothy Wesockes and his wife Erin of Somerset, MA, Kelly Jones and her husband Keith of Milford, NH, Crystal Wesockes of Brighton, MA, Kaitlin Mabey of Athol; two great grandchildren, Harris Jones and Rylan Wesockes. She also leaves her caregivers and cherished friends, Dee Dee Hayes and Pat Piesnner.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband George A. Wesockes, her son, Thomas Wesockes, her daughter, Patricia Wesockes, three brothers, Frederick Zielenski, Walter Zielenski, Anthony Zielenski; and her sister, Stacia Merick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home 137 Main St., Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Baldwinville Nursing Home - Activity Fund, 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
