LEOMINSTER - Henry G. Godin 92, of 108 Viscoloid Ave., Leominster, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 in the HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness. He was born May 21, 1916 in Leominster, the son of the late Octave Godin and Florida (Bergeron) Godin and was a lifelong Leominster resident. He leaves his loving wife of 59 years, Viola M. (Valeri) Godin; two sons, Daniel Godin of Townsend, David Godin and his wife Deidre of Philadelphia; three daughters, Diane Shelton and her husband Tony of Indiana, Donna Mazerolle and her husband Don of Westford, Doreen Linsky and her husband Dan of Vero Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren, Matthew Godin, Jesse Godin, Megan Godin, Maria Rhea Shelton, Daniel Shelton, Elizabeth Mazerolle, Adam Linsky, Michael Linsky, Gabriela Godin; seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Nick, Sam, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Justin, and Ashton; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Armand Godin of Leominster, predeceased him. Mr. Godin owned and operated Leominster Die Service in Leominster for many years. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Leominster, the Leominster Franco Vets, American legion and the St. Jean Club. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy. He enjoyed woodworking, walking with his wife, bowling, and traveling. He was an avid Boston sports fan. He also coached Pop Warner Football and Little League for many years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor and friend who will be greatly missed. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster, with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday evening, February 23, 2009 from 6 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to St. Cecilia's Church Restoration Fund, 180 Mechanic St. Leominster, MA 01453 and may be left at the funeral home. $(document).ready(function(){ });
