ORANGE - Herbert L. Kent, Jr, 69 of 115 Walnut Hill Rd., Orange, formerly of Gardner, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in the Golden Living Center, Fitchburg.
He was born in Pittsfield, on August 31, 1938, the son of the late Herbert L. and the late Annamay (Miner) Kent Sr.
Mr. Kent suffered from a multi0organ disease called Multi Focal Idiopathic Fibrosclerosis and a cancer called Multiple Myoloma, a cancer with mind altering affects.
He served his country in the US Army as a Private E-2 soldier until receiving an honorable discharged in May of 1958.
He worked for Harrington & Richardson Gun Company in Gardner and Tucker Plastics prior to his retirement.
He previously lived in Gardner for twenty-six years, moving to Orange with his wife Melissa five years ago.
He leaves his wife of 39 years: Melissa (Riley) Kent, one son: Keith M. Kent and fiance Jennifer Smith of Baldwinville, two daughters: Janelle A. LaDeau and husband Michael of Orange, Christine Ruppriectte and husband Jim of North Adams, two grandchildren: Zackary and Sabrina LaDeau of Orange, and one sister: Gloria Grebb of Hinsdale, MA.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at the North New Salem Congregational Church, 60 Elm St., New Salem. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran's Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Rd., Winchendon.
