With a heart filled with love and sadness, we announce the passing of Hiroko Domina, a beacon of unyielding strength and affection, on March 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in the vibrant city of Seoul, South Korea, on November 14, 1943, Hiroko lived a life characterized by an unrelenting ambition, dedication, and an immeasurable love for her family. She emigrated to Athol, MA, where she created a beautiful, loving home for her family and led a fulfilling career at the Athol Daily News.
Hiroko's career at the Athol Daily News spanned decades, where she worked as a dedicated inserter. Her unparalleled dedication and commitment to her craft were evident in every newspaper that passed through her hands. This dedication was not solely confined to her work; she applied the same level of commitment to her marriage. She shared an unbreakable bond with her husband, Edward Domina, whom she married on August 2, 1967. Their love story was one of mutual respect, support, and an unwavering commitment to each other. As Confucius said, "Wherever you go, go with all your heart," and Hiroko certainly did just that.
Hiroko leaves behind a beautiful family who will forever cherish her memory. Survived by her beloved husband, Edward Domina, and her sons, Edward Domina IV and Michael Domina (and his wife, Kelly). Her legacy continues in her grandchildren, Andrew Domina and Ryan Domina. Hiroko was preceded in death by her father, Hisashi Yamamoto, mother, Fumiko Yamamoto, siblings, Michiko Hoffman and Toru Yamamoto.
Hiroko was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, hard work, and determination. She was a woman of rare strength, whose spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
