GARDNER - Howard L. Beaudette, 78, of Gardner died Saturday, March 21, 2009, in St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester. He was born in Hartford, CT, on December 20, 1930, the son of Jurga and Anna (Brock) Beaudette. Mr. Beaudette graduated from Orange High School with the class of 1950. He was an Alumnus of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, graduating in 1952. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Head Cook for the Departments of Public Health and Mental Health, retiring in 1986. Mr. Beaudette was a life member and Past Commander of the Gardner American Legion Post No. 129 Honor Guard. He was a Past Chef de Gare and life member of the Forty et Eight, Voiture 300 and served on many committees. He was active in Boy Scouts in Gardner for many years, and spent many hours volunteering at Camp Collier Boy Scout Reservation. He was a life member and former Secretary of the Lithuanian Outing Association. Mr. Beaudette was a fourth-degree member of the Bishop Beavin No. 2536 Assembly, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 396, the Knights of Lithuania No. 10 in Athol and Gardner, the Lithuanian Charitables Association of Mironis Park in Shrewsbury, the Lithuanian War Veterans Association, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Gardner Chapter. He was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the National Chapter. He leaves his godson, David Rodski of Seven Valleys, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. The Knights of Lithuania will conduct a ritual service at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a ritual service from the American Legion beginning at 7:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Pulmonary Care Unit (PCU) at St. Vincent's Hospital for the outstanding work they do every day.
