Ida M. Lozier

ATHOL - Ida M. Lozier, 87 of 121 Marble Street, died Monday, January 16, 2006 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol after an illness. She was born in Canada on September 20, 1918, the daughter of the late Leon and the late Margaret (Chiasson) Chiasson. At a young age she survived the Spanish influenza epidemic of 1918 in Island River, Canada. She moved to the U.S. to the Athol area after World War I. She attended Athol schools and later in life she received her G.E.D. She worked in the Orange Shoe Shop and was a homemaker for many years. She was a self-taught piano and organ player. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immacualte Church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, a life member of the Franco American Club, the Ladies of St. Anne Religious Society, the Athol Golden Agers and the A.A.R.P., with whom she enjoyed many trips. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her five children; Gerard Lozier and his wife, Linda, of Athol, Leon Lozier and his wife, Loretta, of Athol, Richard Lozier and his wife, Donna, of Belchertown, Thomas Lozier and his wife, Shari, of Athol, and Anne Lozier and her fiance, Scott Songer, of Orange. She also leaves grandchildren; David Lozier and his wife, Ann Marie, Christine Lozier-Duprey and her husband, Todd, Jennifer Lozier, Gregory Lozier, Neil Lozier, Nathan Fisher, Matthew Fisher, Trevor Lozier; and great grandchildren; Etienne Lozier, Samantha Rose Lozier and Montana Louise Deprey. She also leaves her brothers, Gerard Chiasson and his wife, Bernice, Claude Chiasson, and sister, Geralda Frenette Duda and her husband, Fred; sister-in-law Georgianna Theriault and her husband, Eli, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Hercules Lozier, in 1985 and by a great granddaughter, Rebecca May Lozier in 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral home, 137 Main St., Athol. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Dana Unit, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331. J.
