Irene S. Flis

BALDWINVILLE - Irene S. (Buraczewski) Flis, 76, of 35 Fressenden St., Baldwinville, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester. She was born in Gardner, on May 21, 1931, the daughter of the late John and the late Katherine (Astramecki) Buraczewski. Mrs. Flis was educated in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School in 1949. She was a teacher's aid at Baldwinville Elementary School, then became co-owner of Flis Market and Package Store in Baldwinville, before retiring in 2002. She was a communicant of St. Vincent De Paul Church, and was active in the Booster's Club at Narragansett High School in Templeton for many years. She always took care of others and was considered a hard worker. She loved her family and her grandchildren very much. She leaves three sons, Steven Flis and his wife Susan of Uxbridge, Frank Flis and his wife Joann of Castleton, VT, Walter Flis and his wife Yvonne of Winchendon; two sisters, Sophie Cichonski of Gardner, Jennie Slomski of Gardner; nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter J. Flis, in 2002; also by her daughter, Agnes Flis, and by her sister, Mary Bruaczewski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Church, 1 Forest St., Baldwinville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Gardner. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 21, 2008 from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
