GARDNER - Irene B. Kacki, 95 of Gardner, passed into heaven Tuesday, October 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family, in the Coleman House, Northborough, MA.
She was born in Gardner, on December 3, 1918, the daughter of the late Antoni and the late Helen (Kotoska) Piernoek.
Grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School in 1936. She attended the Gardner State Hospital School of Practical Nursing and was an LPN at Gardner State Hospital until she retired in 1983.
She was a member of the Gardner Golden Age Club, an active member of St. Joseph's Church for most of her life. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, helped at church festivals, baked for CCD classes, made crafts for the fair, member of the morning Mass group for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, MA Association of Retirees. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter: Louise Kapacziewski and her husband, Alan of Northborough; one son: Edwin T. Petzolt in China; one granddaughter: Amy O'Shaughnessy and her husband, Jim of Concord, NH; one grandson: Alan J. Kapacziewski and his wife, Lisa of Worcester; five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband: Michael R. Petzolt and her second husband: Remek Kacki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA 01440, or The Coleman House Activity Fund, 112 W. Main St., Northboro, MA 01532.
