Irene L. (Lamothe) Rochon Wright, 90, of 821 Daniel Shays Highway in Athol, formerly of Springfield, died Monday evening in Quabbin Valley Healthcare of Athol where she had been a resident for four years.
She was born in Holyoke, MA on October 20, 1913 daughter of the late Frederick and Albina (Florence) Lamothe. The family moved to Springfield where she attended public elementary schools and the High School of Commerce, graduating in 1950. She married Ernest Rochon in 1934.
An avid knitter, she taught for the Red Cross during World War II and later taught knitting at adult education classes.
She and Ernest were active in square dancing clubs for twenty years, until his passing away in 1979. In 1984 she married Robert Wright of Springfield. He died in 1995.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her son, Rolland F. Rochon and his wife Helen of Winchendon; her granddaughter, Deborah Knott and her husband William M. Knott and their sons Evan and Braden of Laurel, MD; three grandsons, Paul F. Rochon and his wife Barbara and girls Kori and Jill of Wrentham; Glenn D. Rochon of Leominster and Daniel F. Rochon of Seattle, WA. He older sister, Lillian Cellilli of Springfield died this past January.
It being her request, the funeral service is private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
