Iva F. Ainsworth
Athol – Iva F. (Fournier) Ainsworth, 94, of 15 Western Avenue, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Athol Memorial Hospital.
Iva was born in Boston, Massachusetts, June 6, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Norcross) Fournier. She has lived in Athol all of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1934. She later graduated from nursing school obtaining her licensed practical nursing certificate. Iva worked at Quabbin Valley Healthcare for 21 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, serving on many church committees, taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir, was a member of the Athol Golden Agers, the YMCA and the Athol Council on Aging. Iva enjoyed reading, flower gardening and playing cards.
Her husband of 21 years, G. Mason Ainsworth died in 1972 and her first husband, Herb E. Lucier died in 1946. She leaves two sons; David W. Lucier and his wife Sheila of Schenectady, NY and Mark M. Ainsworth of Athol; three grandchildren, Herb and Stephen Lucier and Jessica Schriber; sister-in-law, June Fournier of Petersham and Florida. Iva was predeceased by a son, Stephen Lucier, a brother, Donald F. Fournier and a sister, Betty Ann Fargnoli.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, 40 Island Street, Athol with the Rev. Adam Randazzo, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Iva’s memory to the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, Living Memorial Fund, 40 Island Street, Athol, MA 01331.
