GARDNER – J. Warren Barnett, 80 of 20 Lawrence Street, Gardner, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on December 27, 1932, the son of the late Joseph Wright Barnett and the late Pearl (Sickmon) Barnett.
Warren served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked many years for Girardi Distributers as a Controller. He was past president of The Gardner Museum and also past president of the Gardner AARP. Warren was a member of the Knowlton Foundation and the American Legion in Gardner.
He leaves his wife of 46 years: Tanya Barnett, three sons: Bruce Barnett of Indiana, David Barnett and his wife Nani of Honolulu, Hawaii, Michael Walker and his wife Heidi of New Ipswich, NH and their children, Amy Ellis and her husband Zachary; Ross Walker; Brent Walker: and two great grandchildren Lane Ellis, Justin Ellis: and one sister Ruth Marquart.
He was predeceased by three sisters Mary Lu Lang, Anne Schmidt, Mae Slater: and two brothers, Charles Barnett and Robert Barnett.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 11:30 am in the Mack Funeral Home 91 Vernon Street Gardner. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Gardner Museum 28 Pearl Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
