J. Ellen Grucan

TEMPLETON - J. Ellen (Strott) Grucan, 80, of 9 Beech St., Templeton, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home. She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on May 25, 1929, the daughter of the late Robert E. Sr. and the late Jenelle (Mathews) Strott. Mrs. Grucan graduated from Templeton High School with the Class of 1947. She worked as a Bank Teller for the Worcester County National Bank for many years until her retirement in 1979. Mrs. Grucan was a dedicated member of the Memorial Congregational Church in Baldwinville, serving as Assistant Treasurer, Deacon, and a Choir member. She was a lifelong member of the Narragansett Historical Society, and was a twelve-gallon blood donor. She enjoyed biking, swimming, and cross-country skiing. She also enjoyed playing the piano and reading. She leaves her husband of 59 years, Raymond F. Grucan; two sons, Robert S. Grucan and his wife Joyce, Matthew L. Grucan, all of Baldwinville; two daughters, Susan E. Gallagher and her husband John of Clinton, Jenelle E. Maloy and her husband Brian of Rindge, NH; one sister, Laila C. Conlin and her husband William of Newport Beach, CA; four grandchildren, James Desmarais, Jill E. Grucan, Samuel J. Maloy, and Margaret J. Maloy. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert E. Strott, Jr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Congregational Church, 16 Elm St., Baldwinville. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton. There are no calling hours.
