GARDNER - Genia J. Pacocha, 94 of 27 Ford St., Gardner, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
She was born in Gardner, MA, on April 21, 1913, the daughter of the late Alexander and the late Josephine (Tercziak) Pacocha.
She was a lifetime resident of Gardner. She attended Gardner schools and graduated from Gardner High School in 1931.
She was a certified Tax Collector by the Massachusetts Tax Collectors Association. She was employed by the city of Gardner as the Assistant City Clerk, City Clerk and Tax Collector between 1931 and 1983, retiring after 52 years.
She volunteered at the Heywood Hospital for many years. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the Gardner Woman's Club, Gardner Woman's Club-American Home Department, Gardner Quota Club from 1955 to 1957, the Henry Heywood Hospital Aid Association, the Gardner Museum, and the National Chapter AARP. As a member of the Business Woman's and Proffesional's Club she was recognized in 1978.
She leaves five nephews: James Pacocha of Hudson, N.H., David Pacocha of Gardner, William Pacocha of Lanesboro, and Steven Pacocha of Lake Worth, FL, Thomas Pacocha of Seattle WA; a niece Phyllis Zwirko of Glendale, MD; and twelve grand-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Chester Pacocha and her sister Henrietta Poliks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 11a.m. in the St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA 01440
