ATHOL – Jacquelin Auger Cetto, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Heywood Hospital in Gardner.
Mrs. Cetto was born in Keene, NH on May, 18, 1929, the daughter of the late Kathryn (Gilbo) and the late Arthur Auger.
As a young child she moved with her family to Orange. She attended Orange schools and graduated from Orange High School with the Class of 1947. As a Pro-Meritor student where she was also active in sports and cheer leading. After high school she worked for the former Union Tool Co. in Orange for 10 years in the billing department.
She graduated from the Red Cross Nurses Aid program at the Athol Memorial Hospital. Prior to marriage, she enjoyed snow skiing and golf. In April, 1956 she married James D. Cetto of Athol, an insurance broker. The wedding was at St. Mary’s Church in Orange and they resided in Athol.
She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church, where she was an active member of the CCD, church fairs, the Holy Family League of charity and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She spent many hours working with the dedication of the church in 1988. Jackie also enjoyed playing bridge and enjoyed arts and crafts.
Jackie spent many years swimming and sailing at their summer cottage on Lake Mattawa in Orange and 32 years of wintering in Cocoa Beach, FL. She also enjoyed the many years of traveling throughout Europe and Asia as well as Hawaii, Canada, and the Caribbean. One of her highlights was riding camels to the pyramids in Egypt and visiting the Holy Land.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years: James D. Cetto; one daughter: Kathleen Godin and her husband Gary of Rutland; one son: Timothy Cetto and his wife Gail (LeBlanc) of Sterling; five grandchildren: Brendan and Kaitlyn Godin of Rutland, James Cetto and his wife Emily of Leicester, Deanna Cetto of Sterling, and Heather Smith and her husband Andrew of Brooklyn, NY.
She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Jackson of Cape Cod and her brother Ronald Auger of New Salem.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
A calling hour will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
