LEOMINSTER - Jadwiga Zemak, 90, of 6 Beth Avenue, Leominster and formerly of Gardner, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in the Health Alliance Leominster Campus. She was born in Gardner on November 10, 1919, the daughter of the late John and the late Stanislawa (Popolowski) Zemak. Jadwiga was a lifelong resident of Gardner and attended Gardner High School and Baypath Secretarial School in New York City. She worked as executive assistant to the CEO for Hedstrom Union Company in Fitchburg until it moved out of the area and then held the same position at the former Collier Keyworth Company in Gardner until her retirement. Jad was a voracious reader with wide-ranging tastes, from the New Yorker to Vanity Fair. She loved to travel with a special love for New York City and Boston. She was fond of big cars and convertibles, and her beautifully maintained vehicles became the envy of car collectors. Jad was a very independent and strong woman, focusing on her career, hobbies and friends throughout her long life. She will be greatly missed by her goddaughter, Catherine Lugbauer of Salem, NH, and long-time family friend, Mark Danielson of Athol. In addition to her parents, Jad was also predeceased by her brother, Michael Zemak, in 1985. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant Street, Gardner. $(document).ready(function(){ });
