LEOMINSTER – James J. Keenan, 89, of Leominster died Wednesday, April 04, 2012, at the home of his daughter Barbara’s in Ashburnham.
He was born in Fitchburg on February 19, 1923 the son of Bernard J. and Margaret (McCallion) Keenan. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marines.
He leaves his wife, Patricia (O’Malley) Keenan; his daughter, Barbara Hagelberg and her husband William of Ashburnham; daughter, Margaret Lahtinen of Nashua, NH, daughter Sarah Vergari and her husband Paul of Fitchburg; step-daughter, Paula Marchand of West Boylston; step-son, Michael Beliveau of West Boylston; grandchildren, Joseph and Jessamyn (McNally) Hagelberg of Ashburnham; Daniel Hagelberg of Gardner, Matthew and Arlene Lahtinen of Nevada, Eric and Valerie (Metsika) Lahtinen of Canton, MA, James Lahtinen of Ohio, Tim and Michelle (Robichaud) Vergari of Leominster; great grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas & Ryan Hagelberg of Ashburnham; Honor and Mae Hagelberg of Gardner, Lexie and Tori Lahtinen of Canton, MA, Mia and Lilah Vergari of Leominster; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Honor (Godley) Keenan who died March 3, 1982.
Mr. Keenan worked at the former Crocker Burbank, Weyerhaeuser and James River Paper Mills for many years.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Fitchburg.
A calling hour will be held, Saturday, April 7, 20112, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St., Leominster.
