ORANGE - James F O'Neil, 95 of 273 Oxbow Road, Orange, formerly of Athol, died Friday, November 11, 2011 at home. He was born in Derry, NH, on March 28, 1916, the son of the late Patrick and the late Alma (Demers) O'Neil. He graduated from Pinkerton High School in Derry, NH with the class of 1934.  Mr. O’Neil was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He received the following decorations and citations; Army of Occupation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharge on October 3, 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. He worked at the former Union Twist Drill in Inventory Control for over 40 years, he retired in 1981. He leaves a daughter-in-law, Sandra O'Neil of Panama City, FL; four grandchildren, Michelle O'Neil of Jacksonville, Fl and her daughter Jami Lee Best of Chicago; Robyn Sheldon and her husband Veto of Jacksonville, FL and their children, Tori Sheldon and Danielle Sheldon both of Jacksonville, FL; Jamie O'Neil and his wife Tina of Athol and their children, Sara O’Neil and Kaitlyn O’Neil both of Athol; Ryan O'Neil and his wife Kimberly of Orange and their children, Peyton O’Neil and Abigail Darling O’Neil both of Orange; his long time friend Charles J. Shemchuk of Athol; a nephew Jeff O’Neil of Connecticut and his sister in-law, Patricia Hoff of Cambridge, MA. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Marion F. (Darling) O’Neil who died in February of 1999 and by his son, Brian O'Neil who died in 1996. Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Forrest Hills Cemetery in East Derry, New Hampshire.
