James Romanson

HOLLYWOOD, FL - James Romanson, 51 of Hollywood, FL, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at home following an illness. He was born in Gardner, on August 24, 1964, the son of the late Alexander Romanson and Ann M (Wagner) Romanson. James graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1982. He received his Associates Degree in Applied Arts from Spokane Falls Community College in 1985 and his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Business from Eastern Washington University in 1988. He served in the United States Air Force and worked on B-52 Flight and Tail gunner Simulators. He worked at Anderson Air Force Base as a civilian in Guam from 1989-1990. James became a certified scuba instructor in Guam in 1990. He was a civilian contractor at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas from 1990-1992. He worked for Norwegian Cruise Lines as a dive instructor from 1994-1995, then he worked for Blackbeard’s Cruises in Miami, FL as a dive instructor from 1995-1996 and then returned to Norwegian Cruise from 1997-2000. He then went on to work on the Sun Cruz Gambling Boat as a slot technician from 2000-2005 and then for Sea Escape Gambling Boat as a slot technician from 2005-2008. From 2008 until his illness he operated his own business providing pool services in Florida. He leaves his mother Ann M. Romanson of Gardner; three sisters, Ellen "Pinky" Blakie of Athol, Joan Hendrickson of Wendell, NC, Nancy Levada and her husband Robert of Rindge, NH; three nieces, Nailil Martinelli of Athol, Tara LaCour of Selma, NC, Katie Ann Tharrington of Castalia, NC; one nephew, Tony Battaini of Athol; two aunts, Sarah Jane Young of Athol, Sue Ellen Lison and her husband Robert of Haymarket, VA; four great nephews and one great niece. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Green Bower Cemetery, Gardner. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Gardner Animal Shelter 899 West Broadway, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Hospice of Palm Beach County 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
