James L. Smith

James L. Smith, age 73, of Royalston died Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Royalston. James was born May 20, 1942 in Keene, NH. He is the son of the late Sanford and the late Josephine (Adams) Smith. He was employed as a Truck Driver and was a skilled craftsman. He loved small engine tractor shows, the outdoors, gardening, auto racing and country music. He enjoyed visiting Cape Cod and Maine. He is survived by two daughters: Brina and husband Rick, Jamie and companion Bruce; his companion of 33 years, Betty Woodbury; several step-children and grandchildren, and many cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Harley Smith. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, August 14, with a calling hour preceding the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Higgin's O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol. Rev. David Poole will officiate. Burial will follow in Lawrence Brook Cemetery, Royalston. At James’ request, please dress caually. The family would like to thank Hospice and ask that in lieu of flowers please make donations in James name to a charity of your choice.
