ATHOL - James W. Walsh, age 84, of Athol died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke.
Mr. Walsh was born June 3, 1929 in Athol the son of the late James M. and the late Regina (Savoy) Walsh. He grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School. He went on to graduate from Boston School of Pharmacy.
Mr. Walsh served in the Navy during the the Korean War from 1952 to 1956.

He was a Pharmacist at Liggett’s Pharmacy for many years and went on to own and operate Athol Drug for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Athol American Legion and a former member of the Athol Lodge of Masons.
He loved hunting, fishing, spending winters in Las Vegas, and he enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cecile B.(Baldic) Walsh, two step-sons, Raymond Chandler of Athol, Robert Chandler and wife Sandra of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Beverly Theroux of Athol, one brother, Norman Walsh of Orange; six step-grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren, six step great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 Park Avenue, Athol, with Rev. William Hobbs officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol.
There are no calling hours.
