Jane Eliizabeth Allen

Jane Elizabeth (Slaiby) Allen, age 69, of Athol died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare of Athol, MA. Rev. Dr. Allen was born August 28, 1946 in Torrington, CT. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Lena (Thomas) Slaiby. She grew up in Morris, Connecticut attending James Morris Elementary School and graduating from Wamogo Regional High School in Litchfield, CT, 1964. Jane later attended Western Connecticut State University, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Psychology, class of 1983. She also attended Boston College continuing in the MSW program. She worked as a private workshop consultant for the Allen Institute from 1992 to 2006. She previously worked as a program coordinator for Catholic Family Services in Hartford, CT 1993-1994, Y. W. C. A. of Waterbury, CT as director of displaced homemaker services 1988-1993 and Waterbury Hospital as a Psychiatric Technician, 1982-1988. She also earned her Doctorate degree through the Universal Brotherhood Movement, Inc. (an interfaith ministry). Jane was a member of Athol Congregational Church United Church of Christ. For the past 5 years Jane resided at Quabbin Valley Healthcare where the excellent staff made it a real home for her. She is survived by two daughters: Sarah R. Tomasello of Highland Park, NJ, Julie M. Kozikowski and husband Charles of Plymouth, CT; Sister of two sisters: Suzanne Sheahan of Lakeside, CT, Lisa Luzefski and husband Felix of Lakeside, CT; She also has two grandchildren; Grandson, Bradley Kozikowski; Grandson, Gary Kozikowski; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Rev. Glenn L. Allen. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00AM at Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St., Athol, MA with Rev. Dr. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
