GARDNER - Jane S. Koczur, 88 of 638 West Broadway, Gardner, died Thursday, November 1, 2007 in the Leo LaChance Nursing Home, Gardner.
She was born in Ware, on January 31, 1919, the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Bobowicz) Koczur.
She grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School in 1938.
She was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army, she entered into the service on February 2, 1943 in Washington, she received the WAAC Service Medal with two oversseas bars, Philippine Liberation Medal, WW II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze star.
She was a communicant of the Holy Cross Polish National Church in Ware. She was a member of the Gardner VFW Post No. 905. She enjoyed reading, music, traveling, gardening her house and her dog.
She leaves one sister, Rose Koczur of Gardner.
She was predeceased by two brothers, J.K. Koczur and Chester Koczur, and by her sister, Olga Winiewicz.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Holy Cross Polish National Church 61 Maple St., Ware, MA. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Ware.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Gardner Public Library 55 West Lynde St., Gardner, MA 01440.
