JANE A. PETERSON ATHOL- Jane A. Peterson, 51, of 151 Marble Street, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at the home of her sister, Ann Chadwick, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Athol, Jan 18, 1951, a daughter of Gilbert and Dora (Ferrari) Peterson, and was a lifelong resident of town. She graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1969. Miss Peterson was employed by the Department of Mental Retardation as a direct care worker at the former Belchertown State School, and later at the Community Service Home in Orange, retiring in 2000. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church, and the New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Orange. She enjoyed traveling, music, reading and handcrafts. She leaves three eight brothers and sisters: John Peterson of Fayette, Maine; Gail Peterson and Ann Chadwick, both of Athol; Joan Cetto of Westminster, Colorado; Kris Peterson of Athol; Beth Cloutier of Orange; Lori Peterson of Methuen; and Kent Peterson of Athol; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A brother, Kurt Peterson, died last November. The funeral will be held Wednesday from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, 01440; or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. $(document).ready(function(){ });
