ATHOL- Jeffrey A. Baublis, 52, of 78 Hampstead Place, was stricken ill, and died Thursday, March 7, 2002 in Athol Memorial Hospital. He leaves his parents, Joseph A. and Edna G. (Simonetti) Baublis; two brothers, Terry J. Baublis of Chicago, Illinois, and Daniel C. Baublis of Mansfield, MA; two sisters, Brenda A. Thomas of Haverhill, MA and Melanie M. Baublis of South Orange, New Jersey; two nieces, Madelaine Baublis and Sarah Scanlon; a nephew, Oliver Baublis, and two uncles.
He was born in Gardner, Oct. 24, 1949, a son of Joseph A. and Edna G. (Simonetti) Baublis, and was a lifelong resident of Athol. He graduated from Athol-Royalston Regional High School in 1967.
Mr. Baublis was the executive director of the Athol Housing Authority for the past three years. Previously, he was employed by State Street Development, and managed the properties of Pine Crest Apartments and King James Court, both in Orange, and Mill House in Greenfield. He was a member and treasurer of the American-Lithuanian Naturalization Club, the Athol Historical Society, where he served as vice-president, and was a member of the Athol Charter Commission. He was a past member of the Athol Council On Aging. He enjoyed gardening.
The funeral will be held Saturday from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Athol Historical Society, P. O. Box 21, Athol, MA, 01331.
