Jim “James” Sand, a beloved father, husband, and prankster, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb 3, 2025.
Jim was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his love for fishing. He leaves his two children, Ken and Katie, and his seven grandchildren. He is predeceased by his cherished wife, Johanna Sand who passed several years ago.
Jim had a charm that was hard to miss, especially when he flashed that side smile which often hinted at some mischief or trick he had up his sleeve. His sense of humor was legendary among friends and family, bringing laughter to every gathering. An avid fisherman, Jim found peace by the water, his favorite spot being at the Quabbin Reservoir where he’d spend hours casting lines and sharing stories with friends and family. Despite his lack of culinary skills, Jim had a particular fondness for hot dogs, often joking that they were the only thing he couldn’t burn.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him, not just for the joy and laughter he brought into people’s lives but also for the love and dedication he showed to his family. His legacy will live on through the countless memories of love, and the laughter he inspired.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, Inc of Gardner, 268 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440, reflecting Jim’s love for the outdoors and his community.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your reel has been cast one last time, but your love, and stories, and laughter will echo through the hearts of all who knew you.
