WESTMINSTER- Joan H. (Novakowski) Delaney, 93, of Westminster, died Tuesday, August 5, in Baldwinville Skilled Nursing Center, after an illness. She was born in Gardner on September 20, 1920, daughter of the late Stanislaw and Stefanja (Kyls) Novakowski. Mrs. Delaney grew up in Gardner, graduating from Gardner High School with the class of 1935. She worked as a waitress and personnel manager at the Old Mill Restaurant, before her retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Women’s Guild. She enjoyed knitting and reading. She leaves one son, Michael Delaney of Gardner; three daughters, Stephanie J. Boucher of Westminster, Denise M. Bolduc of Alpine, WY, and Margaret C. Wiley of Hebron, CT; one sister, Phyllis Lundeen of Surfside, SC; one brother, Ted Novakowski of Gardner; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Delaney, three sisters, and one brother. Funeral services are private under the direction of Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., Gardner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Forbush Memorial Library, 118 Main St., P.O.
